Bright Future in a Greener City: Lindsey Boylan’s Plan to Fight for Climate Justice and Livability
What Lindsey Boylan plans on doing in regards to climate justice and livability and why it matters
When I last wrote about Lindsey Boylan in my piece titled “Made For Manhattan: The Case for Lindsey Boylan,” I talked about her urban planning experience, her plans for small businesses, and why she would be an outstanding Borough President in Manhattan. Here, I want to discuss her plans to fight for climate justice and a more livable Manhattan. New York City has had a tumultuous history regarding environmental, sanitation, and livability issues. Lindsey Boylan seeks to change that by committing to green infrastructure and making renewable energy a priority. She’s also advocating for more open spaces and fighting for climate justice in marginalized neighborhoods, making Manhattan an attractive borough for everyone.
Climate change is an issue that anyone in a position of leadership must take seriously. But, unfortunately, it is also an issue that negatively affects underprivileged communities’ social, economic, and public health. Examples of climate change affecting marginalized communities include:
