Film Review: “Black Widow” (2021)

Marvel has officially returned to theaters; Nature is healing (Spoiler-Free Review)

After nearly two years, The Marvel Cinematic Universe has returned to grace us with their presence on the big screen with the long overdue “Black Widow.” Ever since her debut in 2010’s “Iron Man 2", I was hoping for Black Widow to have her own film especially considering how interesting her backstory is in the Marvel Universe. Rumors circulated, especially in 2014 following the releases of both “Captain America: Winter Soldier” & “Lucy,” both of which starred Scarlett Johansson. Rumors died down shortly only to pick up again after DC’s success with “Wonder Woman” in 2017. 4 years later, Black Widow’s solo debut has finally arrived on the big screen.

Taking place in between both “Captain America: Civil War” and “Avengers: Infinity War,” Natasha Romanoff (Johansson) is on the run from General Thaddeus Ross (William Hurt) following the events of Civil War. While remaining off the grid and hiding, Natasha runs into her estranged sister, Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), who plots to take down the Red Room and the man in charge, Dreykov (Ray Winstone). With the villainous Taskmaster locked in hot pursuit of them, Natasha and Yelena must reunite with both Alexei and Melina to confront both Natasha’s haunted past and destroy the red…
