How Mortal Kombat 2 can improve over its predecessor
New Line has officially greenlit the sequel thanks to strong HBO Max numbers
Well, It’s official! We are getting a sequel to the 2021 “Mortal Kombat” reboot. According to Deadline, WB/New Line has greenlit the untitled sequel with Jeremy Slater penning the script. Slater is known for being the show runner of Fox’s “The Excorcist” and the head writer of Marvel’s “Moon Knight” which is set to stream on Disney+ March 30th. Since the announcement Producer Todd Garner and cast members Lewis Tan, Mechad Brooks, Jessica McNamee, and Sisi Stringer have expressed enthusiasm about the sequel via Social Media, teasing possible returns. I on the other hand, could not be anymore excited considering that I myself am a huge fan of the franchise.
If you’ve followed me on any form of Social Media or have read any of my articles last year, you know by now that I have been a major apologist for the 2021 film. I gave the film an fairly positive review and even chalked it up as an honorable mention on my best films of 2021. That being said, the movie was far from a flawless victory.
