I watched King Richard recently on HBO Max: it’s an excellent film and everything that was stated here rings true. I have seen negative portrayals of fathers in the media for quite some time (more so black fathers) but, it is incredibly refreshing to see a positive portrayal on film.

Initially I was dismissive of the film: I thought it was nothing but typical Oscar Bait, hence why I didn’t rush to see it in theaters. I was so surprised by this film that I’m adding it to my best movies of 2021 list. I hope Will Smith wins the Oscar for his performance. This film actually has me interested in hearing more about the Williams family.
