Public Servant for City Council: The Case for Gigi Li
Why Gigi Li should represent Manhattan council District 1.
A Hong Kong immigrant and the daughter of small business owners, Gigi Li has made plenty of strides in New York City:
- Graduating from Smith College with a B.A. degree,
- working as a counselor/advocate for children and families impacted by domestic violence,
- obtaining a Master’s of Science in Social work with a focus on policy from Columbia’s School of Social Work.
She also has over a decade of experience in advocating for programs and services for children and families. Gigi was also a member of Community Board 3 and was elected to serve as board chair of CB3, where she focused on community-based planning and recovery efforts in regards to Superstorm Sandy.
With her experience in recovery efforts, Gigi Li would deliver as a member of the NY City Council during the time of Covid-19. Gigi understands the challenges and struggles that they go through. She also understands that while the local government may assist small businesses, the resources that are designed to assist end up getting lost in all sorts of bureaucracy.
